Two-time Academy Award nominee JOHN MALKOVICH will take on the role of Romanian music conductor, Sergiu Celibidache in an international co-production headed up by Oblique Media Film (Romania) and Celi Films (UK). The biopic will map the extraordinary life of the fabled but controversial artist, considered a genius by many, a madman by others, from obscurity and struggle to the top of the classical music world. JOHN MALKOVICH: “I am thrilled and honored to be given the opportunity to play the conductor Sergiu Celibidache. A unique and singular talent, he is considered to be one of the great classical music visionaries of the last century. Playing him in his later years will be a challenging and fascinating journey.” The production will be shot in ROMANIA in JUNE - AUGUST 2023. The fairy tale story of mythical musician Sergiu Celibidache. From a small town in Romania to the top of the classical world as the chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonics, the child prodigy will follows his dreams against all odds (experiencing World War II in bombarded Berlin) and will refuse to accept any compromises along the way. The movie "The Yellow Tie" will present the true story of a singular individual with a remarkable but tortuous destiny. A man’s inspirational, lifelong quest to follow his dream and win the elusive acceptance of those dearest to his heart. ROLE "GINEL” (child): Playing age: 8 years old. Sergiu Celibidache's childhood friend. Fair hair and skin. REQUIREMENTS: - To be able to Ice Skate - To speak English very well without an accent; SHOOTING: 2 days of shooting, between June 14th and July 5th 2023 APPLY NOW: Please apply directly using the profile on The Cast List platform.
